In old New England barn-raising style, Cooperative Development Institute (CDI) Board Member, Terry Daniels, applies innovative ‘community co-op’ model to weatherization program in Portland, Maine.

With support from CDI, board member Daniels has been working with Hour Exchange Portland (HEP) (formerly the Portland Timebank) to test a groundbreaking co-operative development model. The innovative approach links the investment of time from a local timebank to the development of a worker co-op providing basic weatherization services to homes and small businesses.

Home Enterprise, LLC will take the form of a community co-op, a worker-owned business organized to improve the economic welfare of members while supporting the social purpose of Hour Exchange Portland , a non-profit community organization.
