Inventive New Resource Turns to the Public to Raise Funds and Awareness

NORTHAMPTON, MA—The Toolbox for Education and Social Action (TESA) recently launched a fundraising and awareness campaign for its newest initiative, Co-opoly: The Game of Cooperatives, using Kickstarter (http://kck.st/CoopolyGame).

Congressman Chaka Fattah Spearheads Urban Cooperative Development Initiative

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – October 15th 2010 – Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA),
Chairman of the Congressional Urban Caucus, will lead a new initiative to support urban
cooperative business development throughout the United Sates.
Fattah, an eight term Congressman from Philadelphia, will partner with the National Cooperative

USDA Announces Rural Economic Development Grants

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15, 2009 – Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan today announced that 28 organizations in 21 states have been selected to receive $4.8 million in grants to spur economic development and create jobs in rural communities. This announcement comes as part of the ‘Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food’ initiative, a USDA-wide collaboration that will connect people more closely with the farmers who supply their food and increase the production, marketing and consumption of fresh, nutritious food that is grown locally in a sustainable manner.
