National Network of Forest Practitioners

The National Network of Forest Practitioners promotes the mutual well being of workers, rural communities and forests by supporting individuals and groups that build sustainable relationships between forests and people by carrying out a variety of networking, education, technical assistance, and policy projects nationwide. Based in Athens, Ohio, NNFP’s cooperative development work is concentrated in Central Appalachia, but they also work with their members across the country who call regarding cooperative development issues and similar concerns.

NNFP has evolved, since 1993, from an informal group of innovators working for sustainable forestry and rural development into an independent 501c3 non-profit organization with a track record of carrying out a variety of projects involving networking, education, technical assistance, and policy.

NNFP’s role and our focus is to help increase the effectiveness and success of:
• Local non-profits that seek to support sustainable forest jobs
• Small rural businesses that create forest-related jobs and income

NNFP does this by:
• Partnering with regional non-profits, agencies, and other resource providers
• Convening regional trainings, venues for dialog and strategy, and other key actions
• Helping densify networks within regions and develop linkages between regions
