The Arkansas Rural Enterprise Center (AREC) was established in 1992 as a specialized division of Winrock International. AREC was created to expand jobs and income in rural Arkansas and the surrounding region, helping people in rural areas examine the cooperative model to increase their profits and improve their quality of life.
